SkinPen Microneedling
SkinPen helps to build collagen. This improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, scars and pores. Over a course of treatment, you can expect for smoother, more radiant, younger-looking skin.
This treatment creates controlled micro trauma in the skin to harness the skin’s own healing processes. The result is improvement in skin tone, clarity and firmness. It also helps reduce acne scarring.
Microneedling
At ORA, we use Skinpen for its safety and results. It is the very first FDA-approved microneedling device and the gold-standard device trusted by leading dermatologists, aestheticians, and other skincare professionals.
Microneedling can be carried out as a standalone treatment or combined with Celluma LED, PRP and corrective peels. For filter-free skin we recomend the ORA Glow boost treatment which combines the effects of microneedling with a brightening glycolic peel, PRP and Celluma LED.

More Information
The treatment takes approximately 30 minutes but we book you for an hour so that there is plenty time for the topical anaesthetic to work prior to treatment. Prior to the procedure, your skin will be cleansed and topical anaesthetic will be used to minimise discomfort during treatment. The SkinPen is applied to the skin and glides across the treatment areas. The depth of treatment is adjustable, so it is safe to use on the entire face, as well as neck and even hands. Even the most delicate area around the eyes and around the mouth can be treated with minimal discomfort.
Clients with a dysfunctional skin barrier, sensitivity or those who have had intense sun exposure in the two weeks pre-peel should discuss the treatment with their ORA doctor in advance of making an appointment for a peel.
Allergy to any of the ingredients including salicylic acid (aspirin) is a contraindication to some peels. Please discuss in advance with your ORA doctor.
It is very important that you avoid using retinoids (vitamin A) and all exfoliating acids for 5 days prior to your corrective peel. If you have sensitive skin, we recommend stopping these products 7 days pre-peel. It is also important to avoid intense sun exposure for 2 weeks pre-peel. We also do not recommend having any other skin, beauty or aesthetic treatments in the two weeks before a peel (includes brow treatments).
For medium depth peels it is vital that you stick rigidly to the protocol set out by your doctor in the weeks leading up to your peel. Read our information leaflet here for full guidance.
The procedure is not painless, but most patients rate the pain 2 out of 10!
SkinPen is very well tolerated but do keep in mind that your skin will be red and will feel tight, a little like a sunburn. For most people the redness subsides significantly within 24 hours. You won’t be able to apply any products including makeup for up to 48 hours. You may notice some swelling especially around the eye area. This can last for up to a few days. Your skin will feel tender for a day or two. You may experience some flaking that commences on day 3 and can last for up to a week.
Your skin will appear more radiant within two weeks of treatment but best results are seen six months after completion of course of treatment.
We recommend a course of 4-6 treatments with one treatment every 4-6 weeks.
The best results are seen within 3-6 months after the completion of the course of treatment. The reason for this is that it takes your body time to build collagen.
